Accessibility

This Policy and Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (the “Policy and Plan”) outlines the plans and actions that ACE Bakery Limited will put in place to ensure that people with disabilities will be treated with respect and fairness. This plan will be updated on an ongoing basis as appropriate.

OUR COMMITMENT

ACE Bakery Limited is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner, and will do so by identifying and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.

ACCESSIBLE EMERGENCY INFORMATION

ACE Bakery Limited is committed to providing publicly-available emergency information in an accessible way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response information, as necessary.

TRAINING

By January 1, 2015, ACE Bakery Limited will provide training to employees and other staff on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on Human Rights as they relate to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties and responsibilities of those being trained.

ACE Bakery Limited will take the following steps to ensure employees are provided with necessary training to meet Ontario’s accessible laws:

  • Train newly-hired employees during the process of their orientation.
  • Train current employees as appropriate based on their jobs and responsibilities.
  • Seek out best practices in order to deliver the most effective ongoing training.
  • Create and update new and existing policies and procedures related to people with disabilities.
  • Maintain training records and materials.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

ACE Bakery Limited is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We will consult with people with disabilities to determine their information and communication needs.

ACE Bakery Limited will take proactive steps to ensure that by January 1, 2015, its processes to receive and respond to feedback from clients, customers and employees, and publicly available information, are accessible to people with disabilities. This will be done through provision of alternate formats or communication supports upon request. ACE Bakery Limited will notify the public about the availability of accessible formats and communication supports, and provide guidelines on how to access these on www.acebakery.com.

ACE Bakery Limited websites and content conform with WCAG 2.0, Level AA.

EMPLOYMENT

ACE Bakery Limited is committed to fair and accessible employment practices. We will take steps to ensure that the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities are taken into account in human resources processes including performance management, career development and redeployment protocols.

ACE Bakery Limited will accommodate candidates with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes, and when employees are hired.

ACE Bakery Limited has, and will continue to further develop steps and processes for individual accommodation plans and coordinated-return-to-work policies for employees who have been absent due to a disability.
