ACE Bakery® Sesame Gourmet Buns homemade beef patties topped with oozy cheddar, delicious beetroot relish and a drizzle of Horseradish Mayo for an extra kick make for a quick midweek summertime meal.

INGREDIENTS
For the Burgers
- 4 ACE Bakery® Sesame Gourmet Buns
- 16 oz. (454g) ground beef, medium
- ½ small red onion, grated
- 1 tsp. (5ml) garlic salt
- 4 slices of white cheddar
- Olive oil, to baste.
- Lettuce to serve
For the Beet Relish
- 3.5 oz. (100g) canned beets, diced
- 2 tbsp. (30ml) gherkins, chopped
- 1 tbsp. (15ml) red onion, finely chopped
- ½ tbsp. (7.5ml) cider vinegar
- ½ tbsp. (7.5ml) olive oil
- ½ tbsp. (7.5ml) fresh dill, chopped.
- ½ tbsp. (7.5ml) fresh parsley, fine chopped
For the Horseradish Mayo
- 2 tbsp. (30ml) prepared horseradish
- 1 tbsp. (15ml) cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. (5ml) Dijon mustard
- 3 tbsp. (45ml) mayonnaise
- ½ cup (120ml) nonfat sour cream
INSTRUCTIONS
For the Beet Relish
- In a medium bowl combine beets, gherkins, red onion, cider vinegar, olive oil, dill, and parsley, then set aside.
For the Horseradish Mayo
- In a small bowl whisk together horseradish, vinegar, mustard, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Set aside.
For the Burgers
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- In a large mixing bowl combine ground beef, onion, and garlic salt. Season with pepper and mix well.
- Divide into four balls. Use a spatula to squash each into a flat patty.
- Brush one side of each patty with olive oil and place face down on grill. Close lid. Allow to cook 3 minutes to develop a sear.
- Brush the top of the burger(s) and flip over. Do not press down on burgers.
- Close grill lid and allow to cook for an additional 6-8 minutes or until juices are running clear.
- In the last few minute, place a cheese slice atop each patty to melt.
To serve
- Toast ACE® Sesame Buns if desired. Spread the toasted bun halves with the horseradish mayo.
- Top bottom buns with lettuce, a burger patty, then a spoonful of the relish.
- Top with the remaining bun halves.
- Best served with plain potato chips.
