Ingredients

For the Pumpkin Spice Butter:

  • 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt

For the French Toast:

  • 1 loaf ACE Sourdough Bistro Bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half for richer)
  • ½ cup pumpkin purée
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or neutral oil, for the skillet

For Serving:

  • Maple syrup
  • Pumpkin spice butter (above)
  • Optional: powdered sugar, toasted pecans, or whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Make the Pumpkin Spice Butter: In a small bowl, mash together the softened butter, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt until smooth. Transfer to a ramekin, cover, and chill until ready to use (soften slightly before serving).
  2. Mix the Custard: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, pumpkin purée, brown sugar, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. Dip the Bread: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a pat of butter. Dip each slice of ACE Sourdough Bistro Bread into the custard, letting it soak for about 10–15 seconds per side.
  4. Cook: Place soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and slightly crisp at the edges.
  5. Serve: Stack French toast slices, add a generous dollop of pumpkin spice butter, and drizzle with maple syrup. Finish with powdered sugar, toasted pecans, or whipped cream if you like.
