1 crusty ACE baguette, split lengthwise3–4 oz good-quality French ham\3 tbsp salted European butter, softened1 tbsp finely chopped fresh herbs (chives are classic; parsley or tarragon welcome)1–2 tsp Dijon mustard4–6 cornichons, sliced lengthwise or left wholeFlaky salt, to tasteFreshly cracked black pepper (optional).
- 1 crusty ACE baguette, split lengthwise
- 3–4 oz good-quality French ham\
- 3 tbsp salted European butter, softened
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh herbs (chives are classic; parsley or tarragon welcome)
- 1–2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 4–6 cornichons, sliced lengthwise or left whole
- Flaky salt, to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper (optional)
Warm the baguette: Preheat the oven to 350°F and warm the baguette for 5–7 minutes so it’s lightly crisp on the outside and soft inside.Make the whipped herbed butter: In a small bowl, whip the softened butter with the herbs until light and airy. Build the sandwich: Spread the herbed butter generously on one side of the warm baguette. Add a thin swipe of Dijon on the other side, just enough for a little tang. Layer the ham, add cornichons for crunch, then slice in half and enjoy! .
