Caramelized Onions
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Dip Base
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup full-fat mayonnaise
- 3oz. Boursin garlic & herb cheese (optional)
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp kosher salt (plus more to taste)
Cheesy Top
- 1½ cups grated Gruyère
- Optional: ¼ cup grated Parmesan
For Serving
- Ace Bakery ® baguettes, sliced
- Olive oil, for brushing
- Flaky salt
- Fresh herbs
InstructionsCaramelize the Onions: Heat olive oil and butter in a wide skillet over medium heat. Add onions, salt, and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden and jammy, 30-40 minutes.Make the Dip Preheat oven to 375°F. In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayo, cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt. Fold in the caramelized onions. Transfer mixture to a small baking dish or skillet and smooth the top.Sprinkle Gruyère (and Parmesan, if using) evenly over the dip. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top. For extra color, broil for the last 1–2 minutes, watch closely.Toast the Baguettes: While the dip bakes, brush baguette slices with olive oil and toast at 400°F until golden and crisp, about 8–10 minutes. Finish with flaky salt and fresh herbs. .
