Rich, creamy, and perfectly golden from edge to center. This savory French toast bake combines tender chicken, Alfredo sauce, and melty mozzarella with cubes of ACE Bakery® French Loaf that soak up a flavorful custard and bake until crisp on top and soft inside. Finished with fresh herbs and a touch of lemon, it is a comforting, crowd-pleasing dish made for sharing.
● 1 large loaf crusty bread
such as ACE Bakery French Loaf, cut into 1-inch cubes
● 2 cups shredded rotisserie
chicken
● 1 cup jarred Alfredo sauce
● 6 large eggs
● 1 ¼ cups milk or
half-and-half
● 1 cup shredded mozzarella
● ½ cup grated parmesan
● ¼ cup chopped fresh herbs
(parsley, chives, basil, or dill)
● 1 teaspoon lemon zest
● 2 cloves garlic, grated on a
microplane
● ½ teaspoon kosher salt
● ½ teaspoon black pepper
● 2 tablespoons olive oil or
melted butter
- Prepare the bread: If
your bread is fresh, toast the cubes in a 350°F oven for about 8–10
minutes until lightly dried out. This helps them soak up the custard
without getting soggy. - Make the custard: In a large
bowl whisk together eggs, milk, Alfredo sauce, garlic, lemon zest, salt,
pepper. In a greased 9×13 baking dish layer bread cubes, shredded
rotisserie chicken, mozzarella, parmesan, and herbs. Toss until everything
is evenly coated. Drizzle with olive oil or melted butter. - Let sit for 20–30 minutes (or
refrigerate overnight) so the bread absorbs the custard. - Bake at 350°F for 35–40
minutes, until the center is set and the edges are golden and crispy. Top
with extra herbs, parmesan, and a squeeze of lemon.
